AIM 18 Award Total Decreased

KUALA LUMPUR -Album sales which dropped through compact disc and cassettes sales indirectly has damaged the 18th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM 18) which will be held at Stadium Putra here on November 2.
The award ceremony organized by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (Rim)  were forced to reduce the total number of awards from 29 awards last year to 19 awards this year due to that scenario.
Rim Deputy Chairman and the association’s Industry Development Committee Member, Adrian Lim said, the drop of album sales and the lack of local album production causing his association to cancel the Best Album category for all music genre.
“This year there are no categories for Best Pop Album and several other music genre. This is because there are not many albums produced this year. To overcome that problem all albums contesting will grab for the Best Album overall.
“However, we still have the Best Song category for all music genre which contested namely pop, rock, nasyid, hip hop, ethnic, Best English Song and so on,” he said at the first press conference for AIM 18 here yesterday.
Despite decrease in the aspect of award numbers, the AIM which has been organized since 17 years ago has also inserted a new award named Best Celcom Mobile Artist which involves all telecommunication company (telco) in this country.
Adrian added, through this award, the song that is most downloaded digitally via telephone will be selected as the winner. -mynewshub
