Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH192 has landed safely at the KL International Airport (KLIA).
MAS via its official Twitter account, wrote that the plane touched down safely at 1.56am.
Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussesin wrote on his Twitter account that he was on the way to the airport.
MH192 that was en route to Bangalore from Kuala Lumpur had made an air turn back earlier while it was still in Malaysian airspace due to a technical problem.
It circled the airspace above the KLIA in an attempt to burn fuel before attempting an emergency landing.
In a statement released at 1.35am, MAS confirms the incident, saying that the aircraft’s right-hand landing gear malfunctioned upon take off.
Meanwhile, the New Straits Times reported that a spokesperson with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) said the plane would not be allowed to land until it was nearly out of fuel.
The spokesperson also said the plane would land on its belly and foam would be spread on the runway to prevent fire.
MH192 is carrying a total of 166 passengers, including seven crew members.
The flight had departed KLIA at 10.09pm before it was forced to make the air turn back.
Sources say the aircraft’s right landing gear was either not locked properly or not in the right position.
Netizens are already talking about this latest incident to hit the national career, with the hashtag #PrayForMH192 already trending on Twitter.
